Loblaw shares rise on privatization talk

Shares of Loblaw Cos. Ltd. rose almost 5 per cent yesterday amid mounting speculation that parent George Weston Ltd. is preparing to take the grocer private.The rumours started after Weston confirmed that it is in talks with Grupo Bimbo SA, Mexico's largest bread maker, to take over Weston's U.S. fresh bread and baked goods business.
